A note from Ishmael

We work around you, not the other way round

I started my practice over ten years ago, after university and an accountancy training programme, with no job and just £50 spent on business cards I designed myself and ordered from Vistaprint.

I saw a gap in the market: many small business owners didn’t have time to visit a nine-to-five accountant. So I built the practice around my own circumstances, meeting them in the evenings after my day job. I began as a sole trader, trading as Ibangs Accountancy Services, and incorporated as IB&Co Accountants in 2018.

Since then, my team and I have helped more than 950 clients. That’s what we call Modern Practice, Modern Approach: business support and advice alongside the traditional accountancy you would expect.

Over the years, we’ve helped SMEs, contractors, self-employed people, start-ups, property investors and landlords, expatriates, individuals, social media creators and influencers, and nurses, doctors and other professionals.

I’m more than an accountant and tax adviser. Having built several businesses and exited one myself, I bring hands-on experience of start-ups, entrepreneurship and business processes to every client, not just the numbers.

How IB&Co Started: Our Founder’s Story

2014

Starting Out

After university and an accountancy training programme, with no job, Ishmael created his own opportunity with £50 of self-designed business cards.

2014–2018

Sole Trader

Spotting a gap in the market, he traded as Ibangs Accountancy Services, meeting small business owners in the evenings after his day job.

2018

Becoming IB&Co

As the practice grew, Ibangs Accountancy Services was incorporated as IB&Co Accountants Ltd, building on the same promise to work around clients.
